October 30th to November 4th, 2007 AVALON HARBOR, CATALINA ISLAND

Avalon is a busy tourist town, dedicated to extracting money from visitors. It manages to do this in a very charming way that grows on you. A great walking town (the main form of vehicular transportation is golf carts). The Casino (Italian for "meeting Place") is a theater and dance hall, with no gamboling. The port had a pay for 2 days and stay for the next 5 days free sale so we stayed extra days. SV Tarun and SV Sugata were in the Harbour and we all went to diner and the movie "American Gangster" at the Casino. The theater was by far the most interesting I have been in, decorated in the Art Deco style.
Note: There is no free wireless internet access in Avalon, but the public library offers free internet on there computers.
