Beaches in the Las Perlas Islands. Note the pink shell beach with the engine block accent.

Birds birds everywhere in the Las Perlas. Pelican is chased off bow as they tend to leave deposits that stain.

Lesley working on her "Gringo" tan. Lesley with "Gringo" tan, complete with zinc on nose. Later she was very "a peel ing".

January, 2009 CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA

Corcovado National Park is a huge park south west of Drake Bay. We booked a all day guided tour through Drake Bay Wilderness Resort (DBWR) http://www.drakebay.com/ and feel we had great value for the $95.00 US each. The DBWR is very cruiser friendly. We rented kayaks from them and enjoyed great 3 course lunches for $7.00 US. Most important, the beer was very reasonable.

The day starts early (6 am) with a 1 hour panga ride ending with a knee deep beach landing.

Our guide shows how the vines kill the tree. The tree rots, leaving the vines as a lattice. Root art.

Great fungi, if your into that sort of thing.

We saw dozens of birds, but they tended to be camera shy.

Two of the four types of monkeys in the park.

An Anteater and some Army Ants. It is best to avoid the latter.

Caiman and Crocodile.

Park station inside the park. Students from all over the world come to study here. Most stay in the raised shelters to avoid the snakes. Someone brave has set up a tent.
