February, 2014 - CAYO LARGO, CUBA AND NEARBY ISLANDS

We sign into Cuba at Cayo Largo.  Five different agencies and a drug dog.  All very friendly, including the dog. After a quick tour of the Cayo we head out to the nearby Islands.  The winds kept us on the boat, so we missed the snorkeling and going ashore to a Nature Preserve., but a visit from local fishermen brought the largest and best lobsters we have eaten so far.

The marina at Cayo Largo.  VG facilities.  Reasonable price.  Mostly European boats.

After check in we head for the bar.  Beer at $1 per bottle.

Sandra enjoys a Cuban Crystal beer.

Born to Sail, forced to work.

The beaches are world class.

Bar on the beach.

View of one of the 3 main resorts on Cayo Largo.

Beast on the beach.

One way we reduce chafe.  Snap shackle and sacrificial line.

Two lobsters FILL a 5 gallon bucket.  Enough for 4 hungry sailors.

Sunset in the Cayos.

Tall ship in the anchorage off Cayo Largo.
