September 30, 2007 OAKLAND TO BENICIA

We left the Oakland Yacht club at 09:30 promptly to catch the right current combination through the SF Bay to Carquinez Straight. It simply does not pay to fight the currents in the SF area. We did very well with up to 3 knots of favorable current assisting us.

East Brother Island Light (pictured above) marks the entrance to San Pablo Straight off the City of Richmond. Judging by a sign on the fence it is also a B&B. It looks like it would be an interesting place.

Our first stop is Benicia, a very picturesque town, that was the capital of California for 13 months. During that time he legislators considered some 850 bills and passed over 150 of them. How did they get their politicians to work so hard??? The Capital Building is pictured above.
